Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute

The Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar - ICBAS (English: Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute) is a medical and biosciences school, located in Porto, Portugal. It is also a renowned biomedicine research center, operating as an autonomous unit of the University of Porto, and was founded in 1975.
Along with traditional medicine, including specialities such as oncology, public health and mental health, it also teaches acupuncture, marine biology and veterinary medicine.
It is named after Abel Salazar (1889-1946), a Portuguese physician, lecturer, researcher and painter who worked and lived in Porto.
