Abe Tran

Abe Tran (born June 11, 1986) is an American martial artist and reality TV participant. As a contestant on MTV's Final Fu, he distinguished himself by way of his aggressive style of fighting, for which he received frequent penalties. He was criticized by other contestants for his flagrant violation of the rules including kicking a girl in the face and kneeing a guy in the balls. Of Vietnamese descent, Abraham resides in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
Tran began studying taekwondo in 1992, following in the footsteps of his older sisters [1]. At the age of eight, he entered his first taekwondo competition; since then, he has achieved a stellar record in tournaments. In 1998, he was named World Champion in the American Taekwondo Association, and in the subsequent year, he was among the National Top Ten of taekwondo practictioners in his age group. In 2000, he was a bronze medallist in the American Taekwondo Association. In 2001, he was among the Forms National Top Ten and a Sparring Bronze Medallist. He again reached the National Top Ten in 2002. He was also a State Champion from 1996 through 2003.
In addition to his achievements in taekwondo, Abe is an accomplished scholar. As a high schooler, he was a member of the team that earned first place for East Brunswick in the 17th annual "We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution" national finals [2], and he won the Grand Master H.U. Lee Top Scholarship in 2004 [3]. He currently attends Rutgers University, where he coaches the taekwondo team.
In East Brunswick, he is affectionately known by the nickname "Abraham Sandwich." He also serves as the president of the Unofficial Chris Klein Fan Club [4].
He will also be forever remembered as the Rutgers Model Congress/UN resident Ninja.
