[edit] Troop 34
FYI this article may be nominated for deletion, (not by me, Eagle Scout 1995), but just a heads up J\/\/estbrook 02:32, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- Some Wikipedians would consider the information as non-notable J\/\/estbrook 02:48, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Troop 34
Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. -- Dalbury(Talk) 00:16, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Dude, go easy on the spite
I see you nominated a Troop 26 article for deletion, because your troops article was deleted. While I do not support the way you phrased yor request for deletion, I would like you to consider a few things.
For any group, whether it be gaming-clan, political party, charity, or scout troop, has to have achieved some level of significance in the wider community to be accepted as a productive article on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, neither your troop, the troop you nominated for deletion, or any of the troops I've belonged to, fulfil this criteria.
Now, I'd love to write up Brush Park Rover Crew, but I've learned from bashing around on here for a few months that such an article would not last very long (My crew's claim to fame is entering a Rover motorsport competition in another state, and when you live in a 'widespread' country like Australia, that is a fair achievement).
The best way to know when it is time for your troop to have an article will be when someone else writes it up. Not another scout from your troop, not a member of your local community, but somebody you will likely never meet goes "Holy shit, those guys from Troop 34 in Detroit are one impressive mob! They've done [Great Thing One] and [Great Thing Two] for this nation, and I think it should be acknowledged. Now, to do some research..." That's the point in history when Troop 34 will be 'deserving' (entirely the wrong word to use, but I can't think of one better) of an article on Wikipedia, after they've propelled themselves into the greater limelight.
I hope that the deletion of your troop's article has not put you off contributing to Wikipedia. You seem like the kind of kid who'd be a benefit to the community, and I'd hate to see you go.

- I wouldn't call it a policy. Sometimes, things slip through the net. Thanks for catching this one, and making sure Wikipedia's fair across the board. Saberwyn 22:16, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in. Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months. WikiProject NASCAR needs your help! We are in the process of forming our proposed standards which, when complete, will hopefully become a Wikipedia guideline.
