Abdur Rahman Biswas

Abdur Rahman Biswas(born 1 September 1926) is a Bangladeshi politician. He was the President of Bangladesh between 1991 and 1996.

Biswas was born in Shaistabad of Barisal District, Southern Bangladesh.He has a BA & MA degree in History as well as LLB from the University of Dhaka.

He served as acting president of Bangladesh following the resignation of BNP led government in 1996. That time, in front of ' 96 parliament election, he sacked then Chief of Army, Lt.General Nasim and some other high Army officials. He accused them of conspiring to stage an Army led coup with support of Awami League. Biswas completed his full term as president on 8 October 1996.
