A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean is Jimmy Buffett's third album, containing many of what would later become his most popular songs. The title is a parody of the country song "A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation" by Marty Robbins.

Although not released as an A-side, but rather a B-side to The Great Filling Station Holdup, Why Don't We Get Drunk (And Screw) would go on to be Buffett's most popular song off this album.
Both Buffett and Jerry Jeff Walker wrote Railroad Lady. Walker would record the song one year ealier than Buffett.
Buffett wrote Why Don't We Get Drunk (And Screw) under pseudonym Marvin Gardens.
