Unusual seismic activity from the planet beneath the station reveals an unexpected machine of extraordinary power. Riots on the Mars Colony bring Garibaldi to speak with an old love interest once again.

- The planet Babylon 5 orbits is called Epsilon III, and is not as dead as it appears.
- Introduces the Great Machine.
- Introduces the character of Draal.

The scene where Ivanova and Sinclair find the great machine is very similar to the 1956 film Forbidden Planet
Draal is played by Louis Turenne, however he did not continue this role in Season 3. He later played the role of Brother Theo while John Schuck was called in to play Draal.
