Talk:A Second Anthon Transcript
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Sometime in the" Removed this. Poor sentence structure. "respectable but superstitious" removed this. Neither adjective is germain to the article. Both are NPOV. Changed "supposedly" to "reportedly" which is factually correct.
Changed "another" to" additional" to greater convey the sense there were two documents.
The factual point of the article is there were two documents. That's the reason I wrote it in the first place. Initially, I had a mind to take out Anthons version of things as it doesn't directly support the view of two documents unless you have Harris' statement. (Which is why I reinserted that.) But decided to leave the Anthon statement in because it elucidates the kind of glyphs that were drawn.
Removed "It is possible that Anthon's description was incorrect, that the "Carators" document was not taken to Anthon, or that the Whitmer transcription (now in custody of the Community of Christ) is only portion of what Harris took to Anthon. 4: 417." as these are suppositions. - I just cleaned up the look of the discussion a bit. There were some extra spaces and footnotes that were causing problems.--John Foxe 11:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
The article is about a second Anthon Transcript. Not Martin Harris, so I removed the Martin Harris tidbit andfootnote.
Martin Harris's description actually states that he had at least two transcripts (we don't know that the translation of the first was separate or not which would have made the amount three.) This makes it just as important as Prof. Anthons which only describes different charactors designating a different transcript by implication, so the Martin Harris quote should be included in the main body of the article. --[[User:Rlittlec|Rlittlec 22:08 8 March 2007 (UTC).
- I disagree about the importance of Harris. A naive and superstitious farmer, his testimony is more than suspect.--John Foxe 14:35, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
