Region D is one of the four A regions of the Virginia High School League. It is made up of three districts: the A Black Diamond District, the A Cumberland District, and the A Lonesome Pine District. The region is located in the far western part of Southwest Virginia, west of Region C's location.
As is the case with Region IV, the region is the smallest in Group A, due to high schools consolidating. As a result, in the upcoming reorganization plan, several schools will be transferred from the southern portions of Region C to help balance the numbers.
