A Poem On The Underground Wall
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"A Poem On The Underground Wall" is a song written by Paul Simon released on Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel. There is also a demo version of the song on a later release of the album in which one can hear some conversion between Paul Simon and (supposedly) the producer who also talks to someone called Karl (supposedly) the sound technician: "Listen carefully to this thing because..." - "Okay Karl" - "... I want to go with on, on the arrangements" "...you're going". In this version Art Garfunkel is not featured, because Paul Simon did this recording in a different country to where Art was. One also hears Simon make a mistake on his finger picking (arpeggiating) of the strings. He hits a semi-tone to low (most likely in 'D' chord). He tries to correct himself and does the same mistake. On his third time he plays correctly. After this he starts the song again and completes the song, without making another mistake.
