Eleven: A Music Company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eleven: A Music Company is an Australian record label and music management firm known for its small but successful roster, including Silverchair and Missy Higgins. The company was founded on November 11, 2000 at 11:11 AM by John Watson.

In 1994 Watson was working for the Sony Music Australia in Sydney when the young rock trio Silverchair came to his attention. He left Sony, became Silverchair's manager and negotiated a three-album deal with Sony. Under Watson's guidance Silverchair had immediate commercial success.

When Silverchair's deal with Sony ended, Watson formed Eleven to release their works. He went on to sign other artists, releasing hits by singer-songwriter Missy Higgins, among others. The label's releases are distributed in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia (except Japan) by Virgin/EMI.
