[edit] Plot
The Enterprise has docked at Starbase 74 to undergo repairs to a damged computer core which has been causing low-level malfunctions. The ship is practically empty, because Captain Picard has granted shore leave to all personnel. The only people on the ship are the Starbase engineering team (the players) assigned to repairs.
Before the repairs are complete, a Klingon named Kavok, who believes that the Federation-Klingon alliance has made the Empire weak, hijacks the Enterprise and sets a course for the Klingon homeworld, hoping to start a war between the two spacefaring powers.
You are in a race against the clock. The objective of the game is to regain control of the Enterprise and stop Kavok form starting a war. To do so, you will need to:
- Secure access to five levels of the main computer by collecting Isolinear chips in your Tricorder
- Get a Phaser from the Security Room
- Successfully crawl down a Jeffries tube and access a Bridge Token
At the speed of Warp 9, the Enterprise will reach the Klingon homeworld in 60 minutes. You must defeat Kavok before time runs out. Once the clock hits 00:00, everybody loses!
[edit] Kavok
Throughout the game, Kavok will pop up on the screen. When he does, all players must stop what they're doing and look at him. If he speaks to one player directly, that player must tap their communicator and say, "Yes, Captain Kavok!" If the player doesn't respond in exactly that manner, they are risking Kavok's wrath and endangering the mission for everyone.
- When Kavok tells a player to "take the challenge of the Klingon sword to determine your destiny", the player must spin the spinner. There is a 50/50 chance of either drawing a Computer Access card or drawing a Bij card.
- When Kavok tells everyone to "take the challenge of the Klingon sword to determine your destiny", all players must spin the spinner and follow the commands using the five numbers on the perimeter of the spinner.
- When Kavok tells a player to "experience Bij" the player must draw a Bij card and do whatever it says on the top of the card. However, if the words "Low Level Malfunction" appears on the screen, the player must do whatever it says on the bottom of the card. Kavok will get angry whenever a Low Level Malfunction occurs.
[edit] Isolinear Chips
The key to regaining control of the Enterprise is collecting Isolinear Chips in your Tricorder. Many Computer Access cards tell you to go to a certain room on the ship to increase your security clearance.
- Level 1-Holodeck Access: Allows a player to pick up a Holodeck card whenever they land on a Holodeck space.
- Level 2-Turbolift Access: Allows a player to use the Turbolift space to move to another Turbolift on the board.
- Level 3-Phaser Access: Allows a player to unlock the Security Room and get a Phaser when they land there.
- Level 4-Stasis Immunity: Protects a player from all stasis fields.
- Level 5-Bridge Access: Allows a player to enter a Jefferies tube and attempt to reach a Bridge Access Panel.
[edit] Stasis Fields
Periodically, Kavok will a place a random player in a stasis field, which prevents them from moving. A player can be released from a stasis field by Kavok himself, a Computer Access card, a Holodeck card, another player that lands on a Power Panel, or a Level 4 Isolinear Chip.
[edit] Winning the Game
To regain control of the Enterprise, a player must have all five Isolinear Chips and a Phaser. They can then enter a Jefferies Tube and try to get to a Bridge Access Panel.(The player must take their communicator off in order to enter a Jefferies Tube, otherwise Kavok will detect them and send them to the Brig.) If they manage to reach a Bridge Access Panel, they can pick up a Bridge Token. If the token reads "Bridge Access Denied", the player must wait until their next turn to try again. If the token says "You Stun Kavok!" the player has regained control of the Enterprise. Once that occurs, stop the videotape. The game is over. The winning player is then awarded the Medal of Valor.
