Mary: A Fiction is the first and only complete novel written by Mary Wollstonecraft. It was published in 1788 by Joseph Johnson and tells the tragic story of the friendship between Mary and Ann and the romance between Mary and Henry. It is a commentary on the problems facing women during the late eighteenth century, particularly those that center around marriage.
