Omega Red, the destruction machine from the former Soviet Union and sworn enemy of Wolverine, is thawed and sent two miles beneath the ocean to salvage a disabled, toxic nuclear submarine threatening to break up near Hawaii. His only condition: Wolverine and Storm go down with him as 'insurance.' Once in the sub, it turns out Omega Red plans on using the missile to cause destruction. So later Rogue destroys the sub, and it is unable to send the warheads. At the end the submarine sinks deep beneath the ocean, with Omega Red still trapped inside.
