A Cry in the Wild is a 1990 film based on the book Hatchet, written by Gary Paulsen, starring Jared Rushton as Brian. It spawned three sequels: White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II; White Wolves II: Legend of the Wild; White Wolves III: Cry of the White Wolf.

13-year-old Brian Robeson is the sole survivor of an unreported plane crash. Alone in the Yukon wilderness, Brian must learn to survive by his wits, find food and shelter, and brave wild, hungry animals until or if he is found.
