"A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters" is a song by Scottish Post-rock band Mogwai from their 1997 debut album, Young Team.
[edit] Overview
"A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters" is the last of three piano instrumentals spread throughout Young Team. The other two songs are "Radar Maker" and "With Portfolio". This track differs from the other two because it has solid bass and drum backing, and is in the minor key, whereas the other two are solo piano pieces, and in the major key.
[edit] Musical structure
The song starts with a count in from Stuart Braithwaite; "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, one, two, three, four, five, six, an' on ye go!", which leads into the short piano-driven instrumental, which segues into "Mogwai Fear Satan".
