Edits

My edits: I'm short on article text but long on encyclopedic research and hopefully very reliable.

I work hard to ensure the edits I make are fully researched and documented using verifiable, reliable sources. Even if I think I already "know" the facts, I verify them independently per WP:OR. For example:

  • This one 100-word addition to the Northwest Passage article was backed up by several hours research and a 500-word discussion on the talk page.
  • I replaced a POV section of the Appalachia article with a new, 200-word "Economy" section. This started with a POV tag I added weeks before, followed by others' talk page comments, my new addition, and finally my editing comments on the talk page. Since it involved a large, wholesale deletion and replacement, I left notes on a couple of other frequent editors' talk pages inviting them to review my changes.[1][2] This whole process took probably 3 to 5 hours over many weeks. More hours will be required to fully flesh out this new section beyond my new section.
  • Another example: in assessing the Doris Brougham AfD, it was unclear how notable the subject was and how reliable or notable the publications cited were. Over the course of the next 2½ hours, I dug up and read numerous articles, posting links and article excerpts on the Doris Brougham talk page[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] and references and footnotes on the Doris Brougham article page.[11][12][13][14] Along the way, I researched the notability and reliability of one of the key sources, the Taipei Times, updating and footnoting that article as well. [15][16][17] Eventually after research and documentation, I made a recommendation of "strong keep" on the AfD page.[18][19]
