A. Y. Jackson Secondary School is a community high school in Kanata, a suburb of Ottawa, Canada. The school was first opened in October 21, 1976. It was the first school in the area to participate in the Engineers of Ontario community outreach program's "Engineer-in-Residence" project. The school was named after A. Y. Jackson, a noted Canadian painter, and one of the founders of the Group of Seven.
In 2006 A.Y. Jackson Secondary School was the first school to be named a Global Learning Center
A.Y. Jackson is operated by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and has just under 870 students attending. Most of the students come from W.O. Mitchell Elementary School or Bridlewood Community Elementary School.

AY Jackson also is home to JTV, an in-house closed-circuit television station, that produces a daily news and information program. This station earned several students the 2005 OCRI High School IT Entrepreneur of The Year Award.
JTV (Jackson TV or Jay TV) first aired in 2004. JTV was offered as a 2 semester, 2 credit technology course. It replaced the traditional audio announcements via the Public Address system. "The Friday Show" was a very popular comedy program produced by two students. A new episode typically played every Friday.
Many think that the 2005-2006 JTV class did not come close to matching the 2004-2005 class. "Sports Man Stu" took over the popular Friday programming time slot, but was not well received by the students. It featured the stories of an athlete who repeatedly gets hit in the groin or some other "hilarious" body part, while playing a variety of sports.
The JTV class was slightly modified for the 2006-2007 school year. It is no longer a 2 semester, 2 credit course, and has been split into a regular 1 semester, 1 credit course. 1st semester JTV filled the popular Friday time slot with a program called "Fast Times at A.Y. High" (a play on the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High). It has not received good reviews.

AYJ is also home to its own in-school "radio station". No you can't go home and tune your radio to the station, but you can hear it inside the school anyway. The Chicken Show is a show that is into its fourth year now. It will be no longer at the end of this broadcasting season, as the student who hosts the show is graduating.
