Steele debuted in the Georgia-based GCW promotion in 2004, and won numerous titles including the GCW Tag Team Championship and GCW National TV Championsip in Columbus, Georgia on several occasions. He wrestled primarily as a tag team wrestler with his (Kayfabe) wrestling brother, Damien Steele, until Damien was offered a contract by WWE.

Steele remained in GCW as a singles wrestler and battled David Young in a best of three falls match for the heavyweight title. Steele is recognized as one of the few independent wrestlers to have remained a face throughout most of his career.

Steele has wrestled with or against more well known wrestlers including The Phenomenol A. J. Styles, Prime Time Elix Skipper, Erik Watts, David Young, The Naturals Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens, Mike Knox, Sonny Siaki, Brad Armstrong, Bob Armstrong, Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels, and The Disco Inferno.
