A. G. Lafley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alan George Lafley (born June 13, 1947) is the CEO and an executive director of Procter & Gamble. He joined P&G just after his graduation, in 1977. He assumed the CEO office in 2000. He is an American and was born in Keene, New Hampshire. He graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois and received a B.A. from Hamilton College in 1969 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1977 (after serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War).
He is credited with revitalizing the company[1] with methods such as focusing on already successful P&G brands like Crest, Tide, and Pampers instead of trying to develop new brands[2]. Some of the turning points of Lafley's career include P&G's acquiring the Crest electric toothbrush [1]. Lafley's handling of Crest allowed it to regain a foothold in the oral hygiene business from Colgate in 1998[3]. Along with Procter & Gamble, Lafley also is a member of the General Electric board of directors.
