A. F. M. Ahsanuddin Chowdhury

Abul Fazal Mohammad Ahsanuddin Choudhury (1915 - August 30, 2001) was a judicial and political figure in Bangladesh. He was born in 1915 in Mymensingh district. He graduated from Dhaka University and became a lawyer in 1942, and later on a justice on the Bangladesh Supreme Court in 1973. On March 27, 1982, three days after a military coup, Chowdhury was chosen to be the President. As president, he was mainly a figurehead within the regime of martial law administrator Hossain Mohammad Ershad. In December 1983, Choudhury was removed and Ershad became president. He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters.
