[edit] Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!

Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian.

And by the way, I've answered you at my talk page. – Elisson • T • C • 01:48, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your comments on Talk:Nancy Pelosi

Thank you for your recent comment on Talk:Nancy Pelosi. However, article talk pages are reserved for discussion which contributes to the improvement of the article. They are not to be used for general discussion of the subject. If you would like to experiment, please try the the sandbox. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 02:21, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

If indeed what you said is true, then you should question the people who put her article in the main page, not the people who edit the article. And anyone who reads the article would have a good idea about the answer to your question. Repeating your question over and over again disrupts the talk page and is cause for removal of said comments. Xiner (talk, email) 02:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, stop trolling the talk page. The page is for the discussion of how to improve the article, not for discussion of the subject of the article. — coelacan talk — 02:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Indeed. Please don't post messages on pages that are completely irrelevant to the topic of the page, like you did atTalk:Nancy Pelosi. It can be seen as vandalism. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 02:34, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

See the very top of the page at Talk:Nancy Pelosi. This is not a forum for general discussion about the article's subject. That's why it's completely irrelevent. — coelacan talk — 02:37, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: "trolling" and AGF, please see WP:DUCK. — coelacan talk — 02:41, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Please assume good faith when dealing with other editors. See Wikipedia:Assume good faith for the guidelines on this. Xiner (talk, email) 02:49, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll ignore you if you ignore me. Deal? Xiner (talk, email) 02:51, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

90.240.34.177, just let it roll off you, like water off a duck's back. This was your "beating in". Welcome to the Cabal. So anyway, I'm done if you're done. Chill time? — coelacan talk — 02:54, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, no, I'd have assumed you were a troll even if you had an account. It's just trollish behavior to show up at a talk page and complain about the article's subject, and then to get mad when someone deletes your trollish comments. Now, since you aren't a troll, you must certainly be familiar with their ilk, and I think if you try to look at this from a disinterested perspective, you can imagine why you received the reactions you did. We're not just hanging out on Talk:Nancy Pelosi to discuss the merits of her position; it's not a water cooler. The page is for discussion of improvements to the article, and you were wasting other editors' time. If this sounds harsh, I don't know how else to put it. If you simply wanted your question answered, that's another thing, but you got your question answered and you still said "so what?" Now we're in Troll Country. I see that you're in the UK, so I understand you're unfamiliar with details of the functioning of the US government. Nancy Pelosi is essentially in control of the US Congress. She will function very much like your Prime Minister, except without the powers of the executive branch. Still pretty notable, and the first woman in history to control a large portion of the US government. I hope that answered your questions; both about why she's there and why you received the reaction you did. — coelacan talk — 03:08, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A "tosser" ?

Thanx for the comment, but I don't get "tosser", other then it being some negative thing. 68.39.174.238 13:28, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

OK. Well, I don't know your criteri(a/on) for that, so I can only really hope not. 68.39.174.238 16:19, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mr. Mistoffelees

Hi. Why did you delete "the demon" from that article and put it back hours later? Just curious. Xiner (talk, email) 05:44, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

I also noticed that you removed a picture from Leon Trotsky while the edit summary read "moved picture". Please ensure that your edit summaries are accurate, or it may be considered vandalism. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 05:48, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, we remind you not to attack other editors, as you did here: User talk:Xiner. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 16:19, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Editing someone else's user subpage

Hi. I'd appreciate if you do not edit my user subpages in the future. Especially when accompanied by a threatening note, it is highly inappropriate. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 17:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] April Fools' Day

Me again. I stumbled across this page; you're doing it again... --90.240.34.177 00:54, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I continually work to maintain the encyclopedia's integrity. Thanks for noticing. —David Levy 01:05, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Barbara Bach. If you continue to do so, it may be considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 16:04, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you delete or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to Maureen Starkey, you will be blocked. Xiner (talk, email) 17:19, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Maureen Starkey

Please stop. If you continue to delete or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to Maureen Starkey, you will be blocked. Xiner (talk, email) 16:05, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll also note that you deleted a reference in your edit to Eric Conveys an Emotion, even if the article may be deleted anyway. Xiner (talk, email) 16:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Please stop removing nav boxes from this page, too, unless you want to discuss an issue. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 17:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

You have been temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia as a result of your disruptive edits. You are free to make constructive edits after the block has expired, but please note that vandalism (including page blanking or addition of random text), spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, personal attacks; and repeated, blatant violations of our neutral point of view policy will not be tolerated. [edit] For the record

You have made useful contributions to this encyclopedia, but have also been removing content without even an edit summary. I have nothing against you, but I will not allow other people's work to be removed without cause, either. I do not enjoy following you and would rather see you contribute productively to Wikipedia. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 17:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

The constant use of the phrase 'for the record' is beginning to irritate me. --90.240.34.177 18:23, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Please calm down. Please assume good faith. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 18:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Look who's talking. Please stop violating my talk page with your presence. I don't want to speak to you. --90.240.34.177 18:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 24-hour block

See details here.

Please read Wikipedia:Three-revert rule when you're back. Xiner (talk, email) 20:18, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi. In life we all make mistakes, and I apologize for having followed you around. I certainly handled the situation much poorer than I'd expect myself to. I'm sorry. Xiner (talk, email) 00:59, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] You asked for my help

I'll be happy to help you but I need to understand the context of what is going on. What is the edit war on Maureen Starkey about? Most edit wars are caused people get a little too passionate about something they believe in, however this seems to be over pretty trivial things. Why do you want the templates gone, and why would you be willing to revert over it enough to be be blocked for revert warring? It doesn't make sense to me.
