8 Films To Die For (a.k.a. "Horrorfest") was a 3-night horror film festival featuring eight independent horror movies (plus a "secret" ninth film Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror), all produced by After Dark Films. The festival ran from November 17-19, 2006 in 500 different theaters around the United States. There were additional screenings November 20 and 21, 2006 of the more popular movies. The films are due to be released on DVD (with the exception of The Abandoned and Hood of Horror) on March 27, 2007. A second Horrorfest is planned for 2007.

The films' trailer says "the content of these films are considered too graphic, too disturbing, and too shocking for general audiences".

The Hamiltons

However, she is unaware that the home is situated near an old mine, the site of an early 20th century tragedy in which many children were buried alive.
Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror
A bonus ninth movie is available for purchasers of the eight movie pass. Playing November 19th only. The film is about three stories of residents who live in an inner city neighborhood whose actions in their lives determine their destination in the afterlife.
The Tripper
A bonus tenth movie playing only on November 21st. The story is about a group of young hippies who set out on a drug-induced weekend of debauchery. Unknown to them, a crazed madman obsessed with Ronald Reagan is lurking in the woods.

All movies have been rated R by the the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

[edit] Miss Horrorfest 2006

A contest for the 'official spokeswoman' of the film series and for After Dark Films was announced in Late September on YouTube. Participants auditioned both online and in person at Los Angeles and New York locations, and were later flown to those cities to appear at the Fuse/Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, the Dee Snider radio show, PlayMania and a short series of reality-style movies featured on YouTube. The four finalists were Chieko, MsBlackBetty, DarkSpider, and MaryAnne. Internet voting ended on November 9th. It was announced that the winner will be named on December 20th. This is a bit confusing, given that the movie festival takes place a full month before that. The winner ended up being Black Betty.

[edit] Pre-HorrorFest Celebration

On Thursday, November 16, 2006, Dark Delicacies, a horror-themed bookstore in Burbank, CA hosted a signing event with about 30 filmmakers and talents from the movies.[1]

[edit] DVD Release

7 of the films from this festival will be released on DVD on March 27, 2007. Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror and The Abandoned have not been given a release date yet because they are still in theaters.

[edit] HorrorFest 2007

As of 14 February 2007, notice on the event's website reads: "HORRORFEST 2007 COMING SOON. CHECK BACK SOON FOR DETAILS." [2]
