It is about a special type of wrestling, not just about any wrestling. Baristarim 18:35, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Not quite. Men have wrestled in every part of the world that they have lived in, let it be the Mayas, Chinese, Africans or Nordmen. This is about a special type: Oiled wrestling. Claiming that it is Byzantine because they "wrestled" doesn't make sense :) In fact, if you had read the article, and ever saw a game of oiled wrestling, you would see that it has more resemblances to Persian, Indian and Central Asian styles. Even the name "Pehlivan" comes from that. If you think that the Greek culture is the source of everything, then there is not much I can do :) Funny that Iranians claim that Ottomans were Persianized :) I will tell you what the Ottomans were: great and unique synthesizers of many cultures; they combined cultures like noone else has done. Istanbul is the only city in the world that was the capital of two Empires. Why should I be offended that there has been a great mix of cultural influences? It is just the opposite: it is a wealth that no other country possesses.

Btw, don't leave notes like your first note to my talk page please. I am in a good mood, so I am letting it go, but otherwise I wouldn't have taken the time to respond to your post. If you have any other questions, just leave a note on my talk page. Cheers! Baristarim 18:59, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Uh, what racism? I even left you a welcome note above. Pls be civil. I gotta run, other things to do! Baristarim 19:10, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
