The section on the events around Tiananmen Square in 1989 is full of factual errors and distortions. It is important that these errors are corrected. These edits should not have been removed and to describe them as vandalism is a bit silly! The actions taken by these vandal patrollers undermine the credibility of wikipedia. Please report yourselves to the wiki authorities!

[edit] 3RR

You are in danger of violating the three-revert rule on the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 page. Please cease further reverts or you may be blocked from further editing. John Smith's 10:03, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

I am editing not reverting. Some else is reverting I think? It is important that the factual errors on this page are corrected.

I am really disappointed to find that there is blatent censorship on wikipedia. I am not surprised because this is a complex area and few people know much about it other than the nonsense reported in Western Media.

You are reverting, because you are putting the same edits back in as are being removed. It doesn't matter whether you use the page history to do it, or put the same/similar contents in. It is still reverting and is treated as such. John Smith's 10:08, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Ok.So how do I add my text to this section?

The main problem is that what you wrote is highly POV and completely untrue. If you want to say the killings mostly didn't occur in the square that's fine - if you can get evidence for it. But things about it being a lie to damage the PRC's reputation is bull. It happened. It doesn't matter if people died inside the square, just outside it, etc.
Don't edit for 24 hours. Use the time to get some credible evidence and ask an editor to put your thoughts into better English. Just drop the idea of plots and smear campaigns - no one believes that. And don't say "it is widely accepted that" if your evidence can't prove that. Just say "so-and-so" suggests that..........
Also whenever you make a comment on a talk page, sign your name with four of these things "~". If you remove the "" it will sign your comment properly. John Smith's 10:18, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Also if you want to talk to someone, visit their talk page. Not everyone will come back here to see what you say. John Smith's 10:19, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks John. I will try to get it right next time. I am really disappointed that there is such nonsense about this event in wikipedia. This section of wikipedia is quite appalling in its distortion of events. The loose use of unsupported statements and assorted opinions with little or no empirical foundation is very obvious. It seems that loose opinions and unsupported factual statements are ok when they fit the prevaling beliefs but not when they go against. If you have time find out about this event and you will see that my proposed edit is factually correct and that there is indeed a Tiananmen Square Massacre Myth - separate from the actual events - which has been used to bash the CPR.

I know much about the event. There is confusion over where the deaths took place, but the civilian casualties did occur - they are not a myth. Most/much criticism of what went on came from inside China, but it was firmly squashed by the State. The fact the government doesn't like to talk about it, shows that it can't defend it if there is open discussion. John Smith's 22:27, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
