[edit] Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page or you can type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!

Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian.--Urthogie 14:38, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rapcore

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. - ulayiti (talk) 19:26, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

OK, ulayiti. Since this reading, I will have given up editing the rapcore page.

[edit] Edit summaries

Attacks and profanity in edit summaries are inappropriate. Please desist. User:Zoe|(talk) 21:18, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Right, Zoe. Although I sometimes disagree with some edits, I'm going to give up attacking their authors.

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Limp Bizkit, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Nlu (talk) 12:04, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

    • OK, so I can't put date about Linkin Park sales? Please explain the reason for it, and don't cancel without explanation. You are only a lot of mafiosos of knowledge.

Whether Linkin Park sold more records than Limp Bizkit is not relevant in the Limp Bizkit article. --Nlu (talk) 17:12, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation, Nlu. However, I personally find unrelevant in the article also say whether Korn are considered nu metal inspirators - OK, it's undeniable, but Jonathan Davis never rapped in most Korn songs; furthermore, this is written with a quite bad grammar ("who are also often..." should be replaced with "the latter being also often...").
Well, fixing those shouldn't be a problem; I'd say go ahead and do them. But again, I find the comparison with Linkin Park to be irrelevant and unencyclopedic. --Nlu (talk) 23:51, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Please use edit summaries appropriately. They are intended to describe the edit you have made. They are not the place to insert your personal opinions, as you did on the Linkin Park article. Thanks --AbsolutDan (talk) 21:03, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

O.K., AbsolutDan. I won't do it anymore. But maybe the thing I will do in a few months is probably giving up visiting and editing Wikipedia. Bye.
That's not necessary - there are plenty of ways to make constructive edits here at Wikipedia. It's so open-ended almost anyone could find something to do here that would interest them. I see that you have made some helpful contributions here, such as added categories to articles and wiki-linking others. That's great! Little things like that do help significantly. --AbsolutDan (talk) 21:21, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry, butt I'll give up soon because my English is quite poor and I'm currently (and unfortunately) interested only in rapcore, nu metal and similar things. Isn't it pretty boring that almost 90% of my edits are about these things? Thanks, anyway. Bye.
That's not at all boring. Having a specialty here is a real asset - you can add things that you have more knowledge of than most others. I won't try to twist your arm, but I do hope you decide to stay and contribute! --AbsolutDan (talk) 21:28, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Sincerely, I'd rather start to abandon that speciality. Moreover, I know very well that most people don'l like both nu metal and rapcore, and in a few years I, too, will stop to be interested in them. Recently, talking and editing about these two genres have also dramatically distracted me from studying (I could risk to not become a good doctor! :((( ). Bye.
It looks like you already know that you shouldn't be insulting in edit summaries, and have promised to stop doing so. You've also been warned about vandalism numerous times. If you want to talk over the edits I've made, feel free to send an email, post a note on my talk page, or use the talk topic. -- Mikeblas 17:41, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Please, don't continue to tell the same things to me. I'm extremely susceptable. I'd prefer to continue in the same way. Egr, 3(/7/2006
The reason these messages are being left for you is because you continue to violate Wikipedia rules. All you have to do is follow them and you won't be bothered any further. In this case, even after all the warnings above, you still left an inappropriate edit summary. If you continue you may be subject to being blocked. If you have issue with a user, the proper thing to do is work it out through discussion, not name-calling. --AbsolutDan (talk) 19:46, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
OK, I'll try to give up attacking users for the one-thousandth time (:(((). These are much more serious troubles to me - trying to reduce my Wiki addiction and restart studying seriously. Egr, 3/7/2006

[edit] Slashes

I made some edits to Mike Shinoda, changin the character "/" to "and". I did this because the Wikipedia Manual of Style says that slashes aren't preferred usage. You reverted my edits; first without a clear explanation and then stating that "when more than a musical genre is written, "/" is used instead of "and"".

Is it your belief that the Wikipedia Manual of Style doesn't attach to musical articles? Is there a style guide for music-related articles that overrides the style guide for Wikipeida in general, or the other English-langauge style guides we refer to? Can you reference such a guideline so that I might learn about it? Thanks! -- Mikeblas 21:05, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Maybe it's better to keep the slash. Reading "and" sounds quite horrid and slow. Egr, 4/7/2006
I've fixed the article to use words instead of slashes per the MOS. As that document explains, the problem with slashes is that their meaning isn't perfectly clear. -- Mikeblas 04:32, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
I see that you reverted my change again, offering only that "it's unreadable". The standard for readability is set in this case by the Manual of Style, not by personal preference. When reading "nu-meta/rapcore", the meaning isn't clear -- does the slash mean "or" or "and"? Or some mix? -- Mikeblas 15:09, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Civility + an account

Hi, there. Concerning your edits to Red Hot Chili Peppers, I ask that you please refrain from using words such as 'idiot' in an edit summary, as people may take offense to that and interpret it as a personal attack. Also, I admit I was a bit confused by your edit, and I'm hoping you could explain why you removed the names of the bandmembers (I'm not familiar with the band, so I'm not sure of the specifics). Also, I would strongly recommend that you register at Wikipedia and create a username, mostly because it makes people less likely to misinterpret your edits and it offers you more privacy by removing your IP address from the public eye. It also makes it easier to contact you, as people can refer to you by a name as opposed to a string of numbers :) Thanks. Cowman109Talk 16:42, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RCU

I thought you might like to know that LUCPOL submitted your name with a list of what he believes to be sockpuppets to WP:RCU, here. --Wildnox 23:25, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
