[edit] Welcome

Hello, welcome to Wikipedia.

Here are some tasks you can do:

You might find these links helpful in creating new pages or helping with the above tasks: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

Again, welcome! - UtherSRG 18:35, 18 Feb 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright

Thanks for uploading the image Image:171_7107.JPG. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? Untagged images may be deleted, since we have no way of knowing whether it's legal to them. (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you want to reply, please use my talk page. Thanks, Oliver Lineham 00:12, 2004 Dec 20 (UTC)

Hi, you asked what is the best way to donate to Wikipedia a photo you have taken yourself and uploaded. Yes, tagging it with {{GFDL}}. Although you probably agreed to the GFDL when you uploaded it, tagging images makes this explicit, and ensures your contribution will be included when Wikipedia is distributed. [edit] Largest Bus Company

Regarding Laidlaw with approximately 5,000 non-school buses, the company has many contract operations. The 2 Greyhounds (US and Canada) account for about 3,000. Those are my very rounded estimates. Laidlaw has been actively trying to sell-off the Greyhound units, and should that happen to anyone who doesn't already have a very large number of buses, KMB could then be clearly larger. Greyhound has added a number of Gray Line sightseeing operations in the U.S. in the past several years, but continued route cutbacks seem inevitable. BTW, The KMB article needs a lot more substance before it could make FA. Can you get more history, desciption of services, innovations? More text (vs lists) would be helpful in that regard. I am a Greyhound and Laidlaw watcher and I will try to keep you advised of developments. Let me know if you would like some links to good websites. Mark in Richmond, Virginia, USA. [edit] Re: Category:Transport in Hong Kong

Hello Dennis. I guess to a certain extent British spellings are still prevalent in Hong Kong. If you take a quick glance at category:Transportation by country you can tell most countries using Commonwealth English have their categories titled "Transport in" rather than "Transportation in". The manual of style and manual of style (spelling) do not govern which spelling should be preferred, but they do according to where the content is about.

The reason why most countries are titled "Transportation in" was because nearly all of these categories were created by a bot. The article "Transport in Hong Kong" is already titled in that way, and I guess the same should be done to its corresponding category. — Instantnood 07:54, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] First Bus and Citybus

They have now put the words "周大福企業及新創建集團成員" beneath their logos on the body of the vehicles. Are the words part of the logos? — Instantnood 18:05, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)

In your opinion, what can be done to improve the article on New World First Bus so that it can reach "Featured article" status? --Kylohk 08:56, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] wikEd

The wikEdlogo

Hi, I have seen that you are using the Cacycle editor extension. This program is no longer actively maintained in favor of its much more powerful successor wikEd.

wikEd has all the functionality of the old editor plus: • syntax highlighting • nifty image buttons • more fixing buttons • paste formatted text from Word or web pages • convert the formatted text into wikicode • adjust the font size • and much, much more.

Switching to wikEd is easy, check the detailed installation description on its project homepage. Often it is as simple as changing every occurrence of editor.js into wikEd.js on your User:YourUsername/monobook.js page.
