79896 Billhaley

79896 Billhaley is a Main Belt asteroid previously designated 1999 BH5 which in February 2006 was renamed in honor of rock and roll pioneer Bill Haley. The new designation commemorated the 25th anniversary of the death of the acclaimed musician in February 1981. The official naming was announced in Minor Planet Circular 55988 on behalf of the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center on February 19, 2006.
The asteroid was discovered on January 20, 1999 by the Kleť Observatory.
