Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I would suggest that when inserting comments on talk pages, it's better to insert your own comments at the bottom of the section, and not to intersperse them among the comments of other editors. Originally, I did it your way when I first started writing in Wikipedia -- and more experienced people suggested that I change, which I did.
One way to do it that works pretty well for me is to do it like this:
-
- [the other person's comment]:
-
-
-
- Einstein's theory of relativity hasn't been proven - I know, and I cite as authority what my friend down the street told me yesterday while he was mowing his yard. signed Orville Other Person, date etc.
-
-
-
-
-
- Oh, and by the way, I live on the planet Neptune and the weather is always fine. signed Orville Other Person, date, etc.
-
-
-
-
-
- Oh, and blue is my favorite color. signed Orville Other Person, date, etc.
-
-
-
-
-
- Oh, and other thing, Christopher Columbus was a bad person. signed Orville Other Person, date, etc.
-
-
Now, if you want to respond only to Orville's comment about Einstein, etc., you can copy and paste that material and comment on it this way:
-
- [your comments]:
-
- Dear Orville Other Person: Regarding the following comments you made above:
-
-
-
- Einstein's theory of relativity hasn't been proven - I know, and I cite as authority what my friend down the street told me yesterday while he was mowing his yard. signed Orville Other Person, date etc.
-
-
-
- For purposes of Wikipedia, your friend down the street is not a proper source. And Einstein's theory of relativity has been referred to by [fill in the blank] scholar in his article entitled [whatever] published in the Harvard [whatever] Scientific Review dated [whatever] as having been proven by experiments A, B, C, and D. Signed, [your signature]
Doing it this way keeps each person's comments separate from each other person's comments, and in my opinion actually makes everything easier to follow. Thanks, yours, Famspear 20:30, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
