From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

740 Park Avenue is considered the best apartment building on Park Avenue in Manhattan[citation needed], and is possibly the best address in Manhattan[citation needed], although it is on Park Avenue and not the more generally preferred Fifth Avenue[citation needed]. 720 Park Avenue would be considered its closest rival on Park Avenue. The last apartment sold, previously belongng to John D.Rockefeller, Jr. brought a price of 27.5 Million dollars.[citation needed]

The apartment house has 31 units.[citation needed] The building is made of limestone which is considered more upscale than brick.[citation needed] It has the highest ceilings and widest hallways on Park.[citation needed] The building was built in 1929 by the best architect of the time[citation needed] Rosario Candela[citation needed] and Arthur Loomis Harmon,[citation needed] the design partner of Shreve, Lamb & Harmon.

Life in the building is amusingly described in New York Social Diary's[1]
