[edit] Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!

Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian.

Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's NPOV policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Furthermore, reinserting the same commentary multiple times may cause you to violate the three-revert rule, which can lead to a block.

[edit] The glory hunting thing

My apologies, I thought you were an ignorant American bandwagoner. Mark272 10:55, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with the page Roy Keane on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. [edit] Portugese 'Diving'

Whilst you found a highly subjective and biased source for your entry in the Portugal national football team I have removed it as it is very non-neutral POV. If you can find a credible source that doesnt have an axe to grind with the Portugese that will attest to their tactics then go ahead and add it. However adding a Frenchmans opinion when they could possibly play them in a few days is far from neutral. Adam777 23:28, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello William. My point is that your source wasnt neutral. Yes a Frenchman said that the Portugese are diving in their games but come on there is a chance they will face them in the final. Maybe I overstepped my bounds removing the statement but I found it very biased. We all know diving is an issue currently but my point is that you presented it in a biased POV. We could throw it open on the talk page to reach a concensus if you like. Please belive I wasnt being argumentative or beligerant towards you personally. Regards Adam777 14:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Nevertheless, repeated vandalism from this address may cause you to be included in any future punishments such as temporary blocks or bans. To avoid confusion in the future, we invite you to create a user account of your own.

In response to your message, In my opinion Keane can be a bit psycho but such POV has no place here. You made changes to Ronaldo's status in the MUFC team on their page. Mate, go to a Man Yoo forum and taunt them there- it's alot more fun and preserves the integrity of this encyclopedia!

This is your last warning. The next time you violate Wikipedia's NPOV rule by inserting commentary or your personal analysis into an article, as you did to Samuel Eto'o, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.  Netsnipe  (Talk)  16:19, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MLS All-star game

A lot of what you say could be applied to any game. Mourinho is hardly going to go into a match and say he doesn't care about the result or the performance. For one thing, I don't think his ego would allow it. But the point is it was merely a pre-season friendly match of no consequence. The statistics from the match won't go on any official record, the result was irrelevant, the match itself was dull and a few months from now it will be forgotten altogether. All of which, in my humble opinion, means it just isn't notable enough to be included. Regards. SteveO 22:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes I am a Chelsea fan, but I honestly still wouldn't include it. By way of a test, if Chelsea beat Feyenoord or Celtic next week, why not add it and see if I remove it? ;-) SteveO 23:44, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
PS. If you still have your doubts, a while back I removed a comment about Chelsea having not lost to Spurs in the league since 1990, even though it broke my heart to do so...

[edit] Personal commentary

Since you continually ignore the warnings here left by other editors, I thought I'd try something else and actually give you the welcome message you never got (at the top of your page). Please read Wikipedia's rules on what you can and cannot do in regards to neutral point of view. If you continue to ignore these warnings, I will have no choice but to request that you be banned from editing Wikipedia. --  Netsnipe  (Talk)  19:54, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
