[edit] Weird Al Yankovic Article

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. - Could you help me understand why you have removed the following factual paragraph from the Weird Al Yankovic article?

"Alfred Matthew Yankovic, better known as "Weird Al" Yankovic (born on October 23, 1959), is an American musician best known for his parodies of popular music. "

I don't disagree with your additions, but this is the standard form of opening for biographical Wikipedia articles. You might find it helpful to refer to The Wikipedia Manual of Style for Biographies. If you still feel that your edit is appropriate, you may wish to discuss it on the talk page for the article (it is the tab marked "discussion"). Risker 06:32, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with the page Talk:The Rolling Stones on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. Anger22 01:22, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! -- lucasbfr talk 03:26, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from removing content from Wikipedia, as you did to Macarena (song). It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. [edit] Regarding edits made during October 8, 2006 (UTC)

This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Talk:Led Zeppelin, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If this is an IP address, and it is shared by multiple users, ignore this warning if you did not make any unconstructive edits. John254 02:53, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Social effects of rock and roll. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. It seems to me that you are acting in an uncivil manner. Please remain civil and don't resort to making personal attacks or instigate edit wars. Heimstern Läufer 03:43, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. Heimstern Läufer 03:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

It seems to me that you are acting in an uncivil manner. Please remain civil and don't resort to making personal attacks or instigate edit wars. You have been blocked for a period of 31 hours due to your incivility. Take this time to cool off and reconsider edit warring. --ZsinjTalk 03:47, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] One more note

Listen, please, and work with other editors, instead of creating or contributing to an adversarial relationship from the get-go. You're invited to contribute to Wikipedia, but you should also bear in mind important content and behavior policies including verifiability, no original research, civility, and the three revert rule. I heartily encourage you to use talk pages to resolve your disputes. If you continue as you have been, it's doubtful you'll get a fair hearing -- show that you're reasonable and willing to discuss, and back up your edits with reliable sources, and your edits are more likely to stand. Make sense? Luna Santin 03:48, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Email Responce

There are a few reasons why you're blocked.

  1. The Three Revert Rule (3RR). This rule states, "Do not revert any single page in whole or in part more than three times in 24 hours, except in the case of obvious, simple vandalism." In your case, you reverted the removal of your edit a total of five times. For first time offenders, the block period is 24 hours.
  2. Incivility. After people reverted your edit, you proceded to send messages to all of them with lines such as "we're including [such and such], IS THAT UNDERSTOOD" and "how DARE you tell me to stop." Why this might not seem incivil to you, acting harshly and editing while "pissed off" is not the way we want people contributing to the encyclopedia.
  3. Impatience. The Talk page is for discussion about edits, not informing people that edits will occur. In you really want to include that particular line in the article, find a reliable, objective source stating that the Rolling Stones were responsible.

These three reasons all have their own block lengths, but as this was the first time you've ever been blocked, I decided to take it easy on you and block for only 24 hours. However, if you continue to edit in an angry and forceful mood, people will reject your addition and this will happen again. Please try to act more calmly and rationally when the block expires.

Thank you. ZsinjTalk 12:03, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

This is your last warning.

I can see where you're coming from with your edits to Radiohead overview and influence but you really need to provide edit summaries every time you save. Otherwise, it just looks like blanking vandalism. Try discussing on the talk page too so folks can weigh in since your edits are clearly controversial. —Wknight94 (talk) 03:52, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

No, the edit summary is the one-line text box near the "Save page" button when you make an edit. Read WP:ES for more. —Wknight94 (talk) 04:27, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Personal attacks

With regards to your comments on Talk:George W. Bush: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. "Do not make personal attacks anywhere in Wikipedia. Comment on content, not on the contributor. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users." Please keep this in mind while editing. Thanks. AuburnPilotTalk 22:49, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

It seems to me that you are acting in an uncivil manner on Talk:Iraq War. Please remain civil and don't resort to making personal attacks or instigate edit wars. AuburnPilotTalk 22:52, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
