Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! You're right to be cautious about editing some articles, but something like Coffee preparation is uncontroversial. Add to this the sensible nature of your proposed edit and I think you'd have been fine :-) particularly if you left a nice edit summary refering people to a comment on the talk page. If you're nervous about editing, the Wikipedia:sandbox is a good place to test things. Otherwise, the introduction and tutorial might help.
