nice try — Rickyrab | Talk 1 July 2005 17:38 (UTC) Stop vandalising wikipedia. You're claims of copyright and trademark violation are false, and only demonstrate you don't understand either copyright or trademark law. And vandals are in no position to lecture wikipedia about morals. You and your little friends aren't going to succeed in removing this information by brute force - you may be able to do so by rational persuation on the appropriate articles' talk pages. If you're not willing to discuss matters properly, your vandalism will be reverted and your accounts blocked from editing. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk July 1, 2005 16:48 (UTC)

- This is your last warning. Talk or be blocked. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk July 1, 2005 16:53 (UTC)
- You, anonymous defender of magicians' so-called secrets, hath violated 3RR! — Rickyrab | Talk 1 July 2005 16:55 (UTC)
As I said, exposure doesn't belong here. You are causing harm to certain entertainers and their ability to make a living. Certain of the exposures here are infringing on commercial products.
- No, we're not. If people want to be entertained, they'll be entertained, no matter how fake they know the special effects are. — Rickyrab | Talk 1 July 2005 17:02 (UTC)
Most people know that it is merely performance, but explaining how it is performed it just plain unethical. YES, you ARE infringing on other people's ability to make a living.
- Not true. Explaining how something is done is not necessarily infringement of people's ability to make a living; it may well be encouragement of people's ability to make a living (by getting folks interested in magic). — Rickyrab | Talk 1 July 2005 17:12 (UTC)
- But instead of just removing content you should register and then propose the removal on the talk pages with well defined arguments. You're less likely to be viewed as a vandal and much less likely to be banned. Remember the 3 revert rule: if you keep trying to brute force your changes you will be banned eventually. And as a suggestion I would come up with a better argument than what you currently have; while the "secrets" behind movie special effects have been exposed for years the movie-makers are certainly making a living. Just because people know how to do the trick doesn't make the trick worthless. Having a trick "exposed" only means the magician can use that exposure to perform something better. Just look at Penn & Teller's performance of the cup and balls trick. They make it very amazing by performing it with clear, yes clear, cups. Nis81 July 1, 2005 17:14 (UTC)
