Hi, just a note that it is usually considered unnecessary to add an article to both a category and a subcategory of that category. So Bill Gannon does not need the Category:Fictional characters, because he's already in Category:Fictional police officers and Category:Fictional Americans, both of which are themselves in Category:Fictional characters. I notice you've been changing a lot of characters in this fashion, and it's not necessary at all. See Wikipedia:Categorization/Categories_and_subcategories for more on this. - Let me echo what Ziggurat has said. As much as possible, very few articles should be directly in Category:Fictional characters. Rather, they should be down in the sub-categories. All the Simpsons characters you have reverted me on, for instance, are already in one of the subcategories of Category:Fictional characters. If this was not followed, there would soon be thousands of entries in Category:Fictional characters. And it's totally unnecessary. The subcategories do perfectly well in categorizing the articles. - TexasAndroid 13:39, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
