I know the word pubes. And I assume people know how to pronounce it. However in my experience although pubes is used as a medical term sometimes, it's primarily used as slang- hence saying "it's not a medical term" and hence I find it misleading to have it stated in the article that it is a medical term. Most articles I've seen in scholarly publications call it pubic hair. Particularly because pubes is a term with several meanings, whereas pubic hair is specific. Also, most articles don't have links to dictionaries (except Wiktionary, obviously). I see no reason to start. Fishies Plaice 14:42, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
