[edit] Your comment on MediaWiki_talk:Sitenotice#Time_to_replace_the_second_line
I found your reply to Jimbo on the sitenotice talk profoundly hurtful, because I share Jimbo's position on this matter completely. I really wonder if you read his message and considered his position? I don't think any of the english wikipedia readers are unaware of the need right now, nor are they unaware of the ways they can support that need. At Wikipedia we need to do what we do because it helps the whole world, and because that is our mission. If you really care about helping people, you would do best not to attack others but rather to rally others to help. Wikipedia is a teriffic communications forum and there are a myriad of possibilties. For example, I'm sure some of the affected agencies need help writing documents and answering email, you could use the village pump to connect Wikipedians who tend to be skilled at such things with groups that need assistance. This is just one example of something YOU can do, and it doeesn't require a sitenotice that everyone will argue over and everyone else will ignore. ... I'm bothering to write you since it would be unusual for a random new user to find that discussion page so long before it was linked anywhere normal, so it seems obvious that you are an established Wikipedia who decided to log out to spew that little bit of vitrol. I hope you consider how your words made others feel, and reconsider your words. --Gmaxwell 15:15, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
