[edit] My deletion of Dwain Fuller
Ahh, yeah, my reasons for deletion did seem odd. What happened was this: someone marked Dwain Fuller as being an article about a subject who did not meet Wikipedia's qualifications for notability. I read the article to see whether this was an accurate assessment. While I was reading it, another admin, User:MarkGallagher, apparently a faster reader than I, deleted the article with the statement "a good article, but it makes no assertion of the notability of its subject". In its place he put the current contents, a boilerplate message that says "This page has been deleted, and should not be re-created without a good reason." I finally finished reading the article, and came to the same conclusion Mark did, so I hit the delete button and left the rationale, "nn-bio", which in Wiki parlance is basically short for what Mark said in his rationale. The trouble was, instead of deleting the article, I accidentally deleted Mark's "this page has been deleted message". When I realized this, I undeleted Mark's message with the rationale "uh... whoops", leaving the article as it currently stands.
Anyway, the article, while amusing and well-written, did not rise to the notability levels required by WP:BIO, Wikipedia's policies on whether a person should have an article about them. Don't feel bad: they're not easy levels of notability to meet. (The article also had problems with verifiability, but that wasn't the #1 issue.) Please let me know if you have any questions, and do stay with the project! Wikipedia can always use more good writers. Very truly, JDoorjam Talk 20:45, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
