[edit] RfA Voting

[edit] List of best-selling music artists

I wouldn't worry about the vote for deletion, seems like its just some vandal messing about with a spurious nomination. I've never thanked you for turning up at the article, but it's made my life much easier; I'd been patrolling it pretty much by myself for about 4 or 5 months. I hope you can stick with it for a bit cos I'm gonna be away for about 3 weeks in total in June/July, so it'll need someone to look after it! --Robdurbar 19:24, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HeHe...

There are probably better ones out there, but I suppose its a good thing to have been blocked ~6 times, all incorrectly! 68.39.174.238 01:10, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure that not using an edit summary is "vandalism", although it was an automated warning. 68.39.174.238 01:17, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
I noticed that, but didn't realize it was over an edit summary! 68.39.174.238 01:24, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello 69.145.123.171

Do you have a Wikipedia username? (Respond on my talk page) Anonymous_anonymous_Have a Nice Day 22:22, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

I think you should seriously consider getting one, you'll regret not editing under it once you have it and editcountitis sets in. :D +Hexagon1 (t) 13:10, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

The following are messages I had from my other IP address, kept here for reference.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and write articles, however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 69.145.123.171/archiveall). Logging in does not require any personal details. There are many other benefits for logging in to Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can type {{helpme}} on this page and an experienced Wikipedian will be around to answer any questions you may have.

Please note these points:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view to edit the article; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do that.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted texts, advertisement messages, and texts that are not related to that article. Both adding such unreasonable information and editing articles maliciously are considered

vandalism. A user who repeatedly vandalises articles will be blocked from editing.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, ask me on my Talk page – I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia.

Hi, I see you've added the {{helpme}} tag. Can I help you with something? --Pilotguy (talk ¦ ) 00:28, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Whew, already two responses... Wiki is quick. Anyway, I've found a vandal who continues to dismantle pages and will not stop (s)he has been warned many times, but always waits 24 hours to vandalise again. What exactly can I do here?--69.145.122.209 00:30, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

What is the username or IP address of the vandal? I'll look into it for you. --Pilotguy (talk ¦ ) 00:32, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

170.211.254.3 I don't know why the link refuses to work, but if you copy/paste it into the search thing, you get the page. Thanks, --69.145.122.209 00:33, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Based on [1], this user hasn't vandalized in the last 24 hours, and therefore can't be blocked. I'll put it on a watchlist to watch for any and all edits done by that IP, and if any further vandlism occurs from it, it should be blocked. --Pilotguy (talk ¦ ) 00:38, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. That's been bugging me since I saw the Carlos Santana vandalism. --69.145.122.209 00:41, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gprime

First, let me too encourage you to register.

Now, for deleting articles.

Criteria for Speedy Deletion. Basically if it's absolute nonsense.

Use Proposed deletion if the article won't go down without a fight in your judgement, use it first for the most part.

Now, if the PROD is opposed or you know there might be trouble (as I did with the Gprime article), you want to open up an article for deletion. Simply follow the three easy steps. Remember, wikipedia is not a democracy, votes are used for concensus. Happy ediitng! TKE 02:38, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Good thing we have someone like you, who is more noticed in Grammar. Believe me, I do get confuse when using grammar, especially when it comes to using "as" & "has". [edit] Helpme

I found a talk page with somebody's email in the edit summaries-how would I go about getting it removed?

You would ask an admin (ask on my talk page) to remove it (the process involves temporarily deleting the page). If you didn't know an admin you could ask at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.--Commander Keane 21:46, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
I assumed that the email was place maliciously. In this case it seems innocent, they want people to email them the solution. I don't think spam is going to be a problem. If you feel strongly about it (or the email owner does) I'll get rid of it, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal.--Commander Keane 21:55, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] IP

Do you want me to create a subpage for you to store your signature, so whenever you want to use it just use {{subst:69.145.123.171/sig}}? And I can make you a watchlist, so you can use Special:Recentchangeslinked/User:69.145.123.171/Watchlist. Then, all you have to do is put pages on the list, and you can have your own watchlist. Also, do you want me to make you a userpage? And, I can also set you up a better status changer code. Also, what browser do you use? --GeorgeMoney T·C 18:34, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

I have created your signature. To use it do {{subst:User:69.145.123.171/sig}}. I have also created your watchlist. To use it, follow the instructions at User:69.145.123.171/Watchlist. I have also created a status changer for you. To change your status, click on the link that says "activity level" (note: the link is black, but it is still a link). Also, I am still working on your userpage. Also, do you want to use anything at User:GeorgeMoney/tricktemplates?--GeorgeMoney T·C 20:24, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Speaking of html... I fixed your sig because it had HTML issues, so the version that I put in your subpage was a little different than the one you used before I made the subpage. I also fixed the image in the awards page. Also, are you the same person who tried to vote in ILP's rfa? Or, did your IP change, and you are a totally different user? Also, to see all your subpages, go here. Also, if you want to know what it feels like to be an admin, you can go to this wiki and I will make you one there: http://wiki.xyrael.net/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page . [edit] Ideas

You know, you could create an account like "69.145.123.171.USER". You'll probably encounter a lot less bias, though I bet you already know that. If I were you, I'd write a manifesto about why you don't have an account on your userpage.--The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 22:41, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Oh...well it does make you stand out as one of the most unique editors around here, which is a good thing. I suppose the next step would be creating a pseudo-monobook.--The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 22:47, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Not possible to create a pseudo monobook. You see, with logged in users, MediaWiki imports User:Username/monobook.js and MediaWiki:Monobook.js and MediaWiki:Common.js, but if you are not logged in, it just imports the last two. GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 22:57, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Even if they scare you, they make vandal fighting alot easier. If you have a special script and want to revert someone, all you have to do is press one button. And then to warn them is another button. So it is revert/warn in 2 clicks. And there is special recent changes and you can curve borders in firefox and you can do a ton of stuff. --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 23:01, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
It's automated and everything and there are special recent changes that watch for words like "insert text" and you don't have to write anything. All you have to do is visit WP:JS and copy the stuff you like in your monobok. --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 23:14, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
And you can have your own private watchlist and to watch something, just press the "watch" tab. Also, in the recent changes, everything on your watchlist is bolded and there is a "my watchlist" link at the top. --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 23:22, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
I can help move all your pages and replace every instance of 69.145.123.171 to your new username. And you can use ~~~~ for your custom sig. --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 23:26, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Dear 69 (I imagine you've been told this before - but it feels so strange to call you that! :), you have no idea how much that "Holy macaroni!" thing made me laugh. And I see I'm not the only one who's been blessed by your good humour - keep it up, a sincere laugh can turn even the worst and darkest day into Heaven.

I'm am truly flattered that you have me in such high regard, hun - tho it is completely undeserved, I'm afraid. My name appearing so often you thought I could be close to a bureaucrat?! oohh well, sweets - leaving the great laughs you've gifted me aside, it is a great pleasure to meet you ;) I, like many others, have seen you around, and allow me to tell you that, should you haven't decided to honor me with your visit, sooner or later I would have dropped by your Talk page anyway - it's not everyday to see such a brilliant and original editor like you obviously are. You're more than welcome to drop by mine should you ever need my help, or simply if you wanna talk. But before I go for now, I really want to give you this humble gift - only once I have ever granted it before, since it is somewhat hard to make me laugh, yet you've managed to do it twice in two sentences! An immense hug, and I hope to see your friendly virtual face again very soon, Phædriel tell me - 23:25, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

It certainly is, yet nowhere as beautiful as the laugh you gave me after a rather rough day felt in me, my dear 69 ;) *smoochs!* Phædriel tell me - 23:33, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] For the love of God, don't register!

Please, don't register. It seems sometimes that there are people who don't value IP-only contributors, and the fact that you are a prolific and useful editor shows that unregistered users can be and are a vital part of this project. I got pressured into registering, and regret it to this day. Nice userpage, by the way.Captainktainer * Talk 02:07, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcoming

Haha. I'm a better welcomer than you :P . My last 500 edits were welcomes and that was just yesterday. So I made over 500 welcomes yesterday. --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 20:17, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Oooh... I just made 100 more welcomes right now. --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 20:24, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
I don't use a monobook. I go to the log, copy everything into MS Word, use the replace function to remove everything except the names, then wrap {{user:GeorgeMoney/Welcome/Template|NAME GOES HERE}} around it, then paste that into User:GeorgeMoney/Welcome/Page and click the link i provided for myself. No monobook. GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 21:55, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I'm back

Werll at least till I go to Italy. Unfortunately during my one week between holidays my laptop managed to break and I split up with my long term girlfriend; Wikipedia dropped off my priorities list for a while. --Robdurbar 17:53, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Well, you've made a little name for yourself

Hi there- I helped you a few months back with pointers on deleting articles. I'm snowballing the chimes for you to register a username. We could make a helluva monobook for you. My monobook gives me one click rollback, one click nomination for AfD, one click report to AIV, talk messages, contribs lookup and much much more. Listen to GeorgeMoney and just jump right in. Teke 19:26, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Gotcha. You're doing good work anyway- so that's enough for everybody. Happy editing to you, and you have been vandalized! Teke 19:52, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

You know, I do recognize your IP whenever I see it. --GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 20:23, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey man. I just wanted to tell you that I have returned due to your’s and others kind messages and emails. I missed this encyclopedia, and I have missed you as well. I really appreciate all that you have done for me. Matt B."aka" Thetruthbelow 06:05, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Hope things are going well for you. I am enjoying your edits to my vandalism center as well, hopefully that's where the vandalistic edits will be confined. Too bad you couldn't vote, though. --Pilot|guy 13:48, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Registering

I have moved the page. I totally respect your decision, and I think it's good what your doing. Cheers! GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 20:47, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh. I moved the page before you striked out the moving part on my talk :P .GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 20:49, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
You're right in your message. Most people started out as IP's. I even was an IP. GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 21:11, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] How to get a monobook

Hey thanks for the attempted tip. Nice to hear from the famous anon. If you can obtain or otherwise use a windows program like adsubtract or admuncher, they can on-the-fly inject javascript into pages. You could then inject an include() statement onto all pages you visit and use something like popups. Kevin_b_er 03:39, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

And if you use firefox, you can have your own css file by going to your firefox profile and go to the userContent.css and make it like a monobook.css, or you can do an @import. GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 04:01, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, firefox can include a css which can @import a js from wikipedia. If you post a custom monobook you want someone, I can lock it in a js file under my username. But you could include popups with several methods. Kevin_b_er 04:26, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
You can either make a file in your userspace, or get an admin to create User:69.145.123.171/monobook.css & js. GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 04:34, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] rant

I saw your rant about the IP thing, and I want you to know that you have a big supporter among the users. You are a great contributer, and my only regret is that I can't nominate you for adminship because you are an IP. All the same, stay here and keep on being great. Matt B."aka" Thetruthbelow 05:55, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it is. Now get an account. </sarcasm>. Titoxd(?!?) 08:30, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Monobook

Once you get an anon monobook, you can even insert a signature button that inserts your sig, and you can insert special links. GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 19:33, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, but then you can prove anons aren't totally limited and that they can get around the limits set by the system. GeorgeMoney (talk) (Help Me Improve!) 19:41, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I don't think you can have an anon monobook, you 1) can't create pages like you could in the old days, and javascript doesn't run from talk pages, not to mention, I've had a hald dozen sysops who have refused to create a monobook subpage for an anon ip—172•135•104•217(contact)02:32, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
I don't think that is possible, although I would be happy to try for you. Prodego talk 15:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] first know what you're talking about

i really suggest you actually listen to their new music! did you see them in concert? i'm sure not. if you did, you would have seen more proof that they are a bit rock...as hard that may be for you to realize. when each member can play an instrument and actually display that during the concert, i'd say it qualifies for "rock" too. seriously their new music is absolutely nothing like their older music. you should really have a listen before you start editing pages. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pompertown (talkcontribs).

[edit] "good luck escaping that"

You do realize you have two IPs, right? One is assigned to you by you ISP, in this case Verizon. The other is with your computer forever. Good luck escaping that. --69.145.123.171 07:27, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry to say mine is leaving me, fast. See here as to why. The gist of it is he used another username, removed warnings, got mad when I put them back, I told him he'd get blocked, so he made new usernames and got new IPs to prove he wouldn't. I'ts been a really bad day for me... :( --69.145.123.171 20:45, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I've had days like that, usually best to take a 5 minute Wikibreak! You seem to have a genuine grievance- surely there's a faster way to remove such accounts? Such is life.

EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 20:49, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

By the way, the other editor has been evading blocks, and trolling the IP editor, so I can't say I blame him. Titoxd(?!?) 20:47, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Sigh... I need to cool down, but I cna't stand people like this. Is he not a coward? This is what makes the internet difficult. You can't face them. They run away and insult you from wherever they stand. --69.145.123.171 20:46, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Okay... Both have been blocked. I'm alright now, I think... It's just the mindset: "I can run away so you can't get me". Augh... Okay, man, breath. In. Out... Okay. --69.145.123.171 20:53, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Head across to the Esperanza coffee lounge and have yourself a Coke on me!

One of the main benefits and drawbacks of the internet is, of course, the anonymity!

[edit] Question

Out of curiosity, and not synicism, after reading your reasons, you didn't actually give any benfits of being an IP, you just explained how it is just as good, so did you not get a username just to prove you didn't need one, or is there another reason. Also what happens if you move house and/or get a new computer? Cheers! Philc TECI 21:45, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Fair enough, so your sort of martyring yourself to make a point, it's a shame it had to be done really. Do you have to copy and paste your signiture everytime you want to use the non-standard one? Philc TECI 22:00, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Well, well done for being the one who could put the effort in to make the point. And cheers. Philc TECI 22:13, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your signature

Do you have to copy-paste your signature everytime you post, or can anonymous IPs now set up a custom signature. Either way, it looks great, and without being too long. smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 06:42, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
