User talk:68.78.15.99
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Again, I am requesting an administrator OTHER than Pgk address our blocked status. As I have said, a school of over 4,000 (though PGK appears to try to rebuff this number by pointing out a typo) can't possibly be held accountable for the actions of a select few. I believe that users who wish to contribute positively should be allowed, including those who have registered user names. PGK seems to think that by simply speaking to our network administrators they can somehow discover who the vandal is. To do so would require detective work the likes of which have never been seen before. 2,000 computers and 4,000 usernames, plus roughly 400 staff to sort through day by day to discover who the vandal was is not feasible, if even possible. I'll continue to post my unblock request until an administrator other than Pgk takes an unbiased and open minded stance on this situation. By the way Pgk, i would post this on my registered user talk page, but alas....i can't as it won't even let me edit from that, where I have over 2,000 positive edits. 68.78.15.99 17:37, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Login as that user and you can edit its user talk page, people do that all the time. How do you know your network admins can't/won't do it without asking ? --pgk(talk) 17:23, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
I disagree pgk I believe that you have a bias toward unblocking this IP address and allowing about 3,000 people to posivitely contribute to this website. I would request an administator other than you to look over our case and decide whether or not to unblock our IP address. Blocking this address accomplishes absolutely nothing, additionally, those contributors who have a registered name are barred from editing at school as well. This is a prime example of allowing one or two people to dictate the status of others. Yes, it is unfortunate that sometimes this IP address has been used to vandalise webpages, but it's equally unfortunate that you seem content to allow well meaning users to suffer as well. 68.78.15.99 12:15, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'll restate my original reasoning since you seem to have forgotten it. If I unblock this address and the vandalism continues then it will be blocked again, thus achieving nothing, but disrupting wikipedia and you spending more time unable to edit. You claim to want to genuinely help the project and contribute constructively, I'm quite happy to believe that, I'm also suggesting you take a much more positive step to helping the encyclopaedia by talking to the network admins to see if they are willing to look at the times the vandalism occurred, compare this against their own logs of traffic and deal with those responsible. This is a win win for everyone, less vandalism on wikipedia and no blocks. You, for some reason I cannot fathom, are unwilling to even entertain the idea of talking to the admins. If you aren't willing to help yourself... Your number of 3,000 (down from the original 4,000) impressive as it maybe does not tally with the number of edits directly from this IP address. If those with named accounts who are finding it a problem are quite welcome to post an {{unblock}} notice on their own talk pages detailing the block and the overall block evaluated in that context. Over the several weeks this block has been in place I have not seen one do so. --pgk(talk) 12:55, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
{{unblock}} Again, this is a high school with 4,000 people who all have computer access, its not fair to punish the 3,995 students here who actually contribute positively to wikipedia, please unblock so those students can add positively to this site. There's no way to get our system administrator to deal with people who abuse this webpage, to do so would require full-time monitoring of all 2,000 computers in the school. Which we can all agree is not feasible. 68.78.15.99 16:50, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oh well then it's not feasible for the volunteers at wikipedia to do like wise, so best left blocked then. --pgk(talk) 11:18, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
{{unblock}} This is the IP address of a high school, many users are here to contribute productively to wikipedia. Unfortunately, there are 4,000 people at this school and some of them will surely vandalise, but it would be appreciated if you could unblock this page and allow those positive users to contribute. 68.78.15.99 12:28, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- Unblock denied. Wikipedia isn't a babysitting service, I suggest you talk to whoever is responsible for the computers at your school and see if they are willing to deal with those who abuse the service. --pgk(talk) 17:39, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
I should not be blocked because im at a school, and people before me edited the page. I mean to do good. Please unblock me.

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
