[edit] Warning on editing talk pages
Please do not edit previous users' contributions (including subject headers) to talk pages, or add new material to the top. Doing so has the effect of hiding older discussions and can be considered vandalism. Grouse 12:43, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] your edits to History of IBM
These edits are seriously slanted to implicate IBM in the Holocaust. This is not a neutral point of view. Please use the Discussion page to get consensus for these changes before you continue. Paul 02:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Edwin Black
This IP address has been used almost exclusively to edit two articles: Edwin Black and the History of IBM section that cites Black's book. I strongly suspect that this IP address belongs to Edwin Black, and it is clear that the edits to the IBM History are meant to promote Black's point of view. Paul 02:13, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Paul Geffen, Clear IBM Link and Slanted POV
These computers are used by several people from time to time. That was written by Betty and is correct. You were cruel and bullying to her. But her information was correct and yours was just silly in error. You have a link to IBM on your Wiki-advertised home page, obviously have a slanted POV, an agenda to obscure the truth and minimize IBM's uncontroverted involvement in mass murder, rewrite the history and timeline of WWII and Nazi Germany. I think you should refrain from making statements that are poorly sourced or imagined about persons living or dead. Moreover, this project might benefit if you refrained from contributing WWII and Holocaust information since I doubt from your self-described credentials on your web that you have any expertise in this History. I am going to change your false statements on IBM and if you change them back you may risk being reported as a vandal. It seems that Wiki is very concerned about libel and poorly sourced info, based on its prominent warnings, and based on the many examples of libel and falsity archived on the sites. This I am beginning to understand. I suggest you consult with IBM's legal department since you seems to be engaged in activities they will be interested in
[edit] let's be reasonable
I will not make any more changes to the History of IBM page without your agreement. Will you do the same? I have already accepted one of your proposed changes, that IBM's founder was Charles Flint, as you can see on the Discussion page. Please propose changes on the discussion page and wait for comments. If we (and other interested parties) agree then we can make the changes. Otherwise we continue the discussion. Does that sound like a reasonable, mature way to proceed? I am willing to help you to get your point of view included. Paul 15:41, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
>>Forget it Paul. We are not collaborators. I am fixing your mistakes. You are faking the history, obscuring the facts and context and bullying nice people who try to correct your silly date errors. It is not up to you to decide if a correction is right. You lack the credentials. You risk being labelled a vandal and I will inquire about having you blocked if you fake Holocaust and WWII history again.
- I don't agree. The Wikipedia project is based on collaboration. If you reject discussion and debate then you reject collaboration, I think.
- Please understand that your credibility as an editor is at risk here. You are anonymous, for one thing, and all of your contributions are to further one narrow agenda. Your credentials have not been presented. Please begin by identifying yourself. Paul 17:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Paul, WWII ended in 1945, OK?
99.9% of the editors are anonymous. Can I be in that group? Based on the wikistalking and harassment I have seen on arcane topics, I can understand why. No one needs credentials to quote from books, documents--students do it every day. I have no agenda other to fix your sloppy errors. That is not agenda... surely collaboration with knowing fact givers is one thing, but collaborating with those who fuzz and falsify history... please. I have no agenda other than the truth. I told you about the early decades and the mistakes. You have a history of minimizing IBM's involvement and that is your agenda. So just rely on the uncontroverted truth. WWII ended 1945, okay?
[edit] anonymity and credibility
You have a right to be anonymous, of course, but it does affect the credibility of your claim to neutrality. And you are not completely anonymous here. Wikipedia does keep track of all edits and can show a list of edits made by any user, even one who does not have a named account. It is not possible to edit here without a computer connected to the Internet and that connection carries information about the location of the machine. It also allows any user of Wikipedia to make a list of all edits made by a given machine. That list, in the case of your IP address, shows that you are interested in only two topics: History of IBM and Edwin Black.
Your comments above show that you are not willing to discuss your changes and that you insist that they must be accepted as "truth". Some believe that truth can be approached through debate: thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Do you agree with that approach, in principle, if not in this case? Paul 17:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
You are wrong. Many other edits by the several dozen people using these computers since about 1999 were made to diverse topics on all continents and phases of history but I think some time ago before you had your recent level of IP tracking and your current level of globally recognized stalking and harassment of contributors. It is just not worth it to help when you bully nice people such as Betty who try to help. There is no debating the year WWII ended or the day it started. No one will think there is a cedibility issue because I correct this error. Ask a high school kid and he can remain anonymous too. If you have a factual correction suggest it. Your track record on facts is not good. Thus far, I am batting 100%. You are stalking me and you bullied a nice person with a legitimate correction--a complaint often made. Back off please and stick to facts. I am off this site for a few days but others are checking. I ask others to watch for Paul reversions to fallacy, slanted POV, agenda, and please report him as a vandal if appropriate. Let's end this exchange. Please don't answer without a factoid hanging off your participle.
[edit] peace
As I said on the History of IBM Talk page, I'm happy with the article as it stands. Trevor has done a fine job of organizing the page to give space and context to the facts that you have provided. I see that I was clumsy in my attempts to change the page, and hot-headed in the aftermath, and I apologize.
This experience has taught me to be more respectful to the other contributors here, and I thank you. Paul 15:29, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Nuf sd. And thank you. So how does one upload pix and dox?
- I don't know, I have not tried, but it must be easy since lots of people do it. Paul 17:41, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
