- I only removed four of your inserted links: the others were removed by other concerned users, such as SEWilco and Nohat. Your wide-scale addition of external links is considered linkspam. To be frank, your attempt to defend your links as "helpful information" is not convincing. As I said above, Wikipedia is not a collection of external links. Spamming your site is not seen as a contribution. If your links have information you think is useful to the reader, why not add it to the article rather than link to it? If you simply want to promote your site, I suggest you submit your link(s) to dmoz instead. -- Hadal 05:11, 19 May 2005 (UTC)

- Look at it this way: While your links may have been related to the topics, they were merely tangentially related. You'll notice that (as of writing) nobody has removed your link from abbreviation, because it's completely on-topic and possibly useful. (The link may still be removed if another user considers it unworthy of inclusion.) The point at which I (and many other Wikipedians) take issue is when you try to add your link to topics sharing only a tangential relation. For example, the article "Botany" is about botany, not about "Abbreviations used in botany". Does that make sense to you? -- Hadal 05:42, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
It would have if the Botany article didn't contain links to other tangents such as: 'American society of plant biologists' or 'The Trees Of Great Britain and Ireland'. When you think about that, everything is a tangent of a tangent of a tangent. Frankly, I don't think a list of Botanical related abbreviations is too tangent and besides, the question is whether the Wikipeida users that read the botanical topic can benefit from our link or not and I think the answer is positive.
- Pointing out other potentially irrelevant links doesn't negate my points above. If you think a link shouldn't be on a page, you're free to remove it yourself. Ask yourself this: If someone were looking for information on botanical abbreviations, what do you think s/he would type into Google? "Botany" or "Botanical/Botany abbreviations"? -- Hadal 06:15, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
