[edit] RE: Jeff Abott article
In response to your message on my talk page, first and foremost hello and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you decide to stay and contribute further to this project.
I do have to point out a few guidelines though regarding your edits to the Jeff Abbott article. The maintenance tags on the article indicate that there is some work that needs to be done to the article. It's very common for one editor to place such tags on an article (as I did), and allow other editors to make the necessary edits. These tags should only be removed after the appropriate work has been done to the article, or after it's been discussed on the article's talk page.
In this particular case, I added the {{wikify}} tag because the article still needs more formatting work done in accordance with the Manual of Style.
I added the {{unreferenced}} tag not because I challenge the authenticity of the statement, but simply because there are no proper citations in the article. Everything in Wikipedia articles should be cited following Wikipedia's citation guidelines, using reliable sources.
Lastly, though not official policy, it's generally not a good idea to write articles about yourself, your company, or a topic that you're otherwise affiliated with. Such edits are often considered vanity because the person writing the article has a vested interest in it. You may wish to consider only doing the cleanup work I mentioned above and let other editors add further content.
For your convenience, here is a list of guidelines I referenced in the above comments:
- Wikipedia:Citing sources
- Wikipedia:Reliable sources
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style
- Help:Talk page
- Wikipedia:Cleanup resources
- Wikipedia:Vanity guidelines
I hope this helps explain not only why I added the tags, but how the article can be improved. If you have any other questions, concerns, or just need general help getting around Wikipedia, feel free to leave me another message on my talk page. Again, welcome to Wikipedia! --AbsolutDan (talk) 16:17, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hello again - thanks for your response on my talk page. I have listed the article for deletion. One of the suggestions was to "Userfy" it - which essentially means putting the content on a user page. I'm assuming that User:Jeffrey abbott is you? If so, I can put the content from that article on that account's user page. Though perhaps not appropriate for an article, that content is ok for a userpage. Just let me know if you'd like me to do this --AbsolutDan (talk) 22:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
