[edit] Category:Former Muslims

Hello. I saw what happened with Category:Former Muslims, and I definately see your point about that page. I have gone through the steps to properly nominate it for deletion, and there is a discussion about it here. Blanking it like you did did not delete the category, or remove the people listed in it from it, and, as you noticed, triggered the bot.

First of all, I would like to invite you (as the person who thinks it should be deleted), to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Category:Former Muslims. However, I need to warn you that, as an unregistered user, some people (not all, but some) will discount your views. If you get a username, that will help some, but again, many people discount the views of new users in deletion debates. For this particular debate, I would reccomend that, if your IP address does not change from day to day, you use your IP as then people will be able to look and see that you were the one who objected. After that, if you wish to contribute to Wikipedia, I'd reccomend that you get a username (incidentally, contributions made with your IP can sometimes be credited to a new username, but I'm not completely sure how to go about doing that).

Also, I'd like to inform you that the deletion of this category might not succeed based on the existance of a great many similar categories that categorize people by religious affiliation. However, if a compelling case can be made the deletion just might suceed.

If you do visit the debate, it will look like a vote with people saying delete or keep in bold at the beginning of their comments. However, you will notice that they always follow that with the reason they think it should be deleted or kept, and it is the quality of these responses that has more of an impact then the vote itself. Hence, deletion debates are NOT a vote, but a debate.

Anyway, Welcome to Wikipedia, and I hope to see you around. ~ ONUnicorn (Talk / Contribs) 20:48, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
