[edit] re: removing local businesses from Woodburn, Oregon listing

Thank you for contacting me rather than reverting my deletion. Can I direct you to some Wikipedia guidelines?: What Wikipedia is not, (especially Wikipedia is not a soapbox), How not to be a spammer, and Links normally to be avoided. Wikipedia is not a collection of random information. What we are doing here on Wikipedia is trying to write an encyclopedia. Encyclopedias do not usually contain detailed infomation on local businesses. If we were to include information on every local business, the Woodburn article would cease to be an encyclopedia article and would merely become a phone directory. In addition, self promotion is frowned upon in Wikipedia, as you may have noticed in the articles I linked to above. I am not going to reinstate the section in question. I am not, however, the only editor on Wikipedia. If you wish to argue for the inclusion of the information, I suggest bringing it up on the article's talk page, and in the meantime, that Woodburn article really needs some editing to bring it up to our standards. If you wish to contribute to Wikipedia, I suggest signing up for an account and improving the article, rather than promoting your business. (Which I'm sure is a very fine business--what I've said to you, I would say (and have said) to anyone who is wishing to promote his or her business. I'm unbiased that way. :)) Let me know if you have any questions. Happy editing! Katr67 20:36, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
