I've renamed inflammatory breast cancer with a lowercase title, as diseases are not proper names unless they're eponyms. Could you please merge IBC with the breast cancer page? I don't think it has independant merits on Wikipedia. JFW | T@lk 17:40, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Thank you for renaming inflammatory breast cancer with a lowercase title. I did add information about IBC to the breast cancer page, but personally, I see too many women dying from this disease because not enough attention is devoted to it in medical books, medical websites, and medical research journals, etc. It's considered too deadly to waste much time and research on it, but as a result, patients diagnosed with this deadliest and most aggressive of all breast cancers, often cannot locate information about it or support groups of other patients diagnosed with this disease to help them over the panic and shock of initial diagnosis.

As you well know, it has unique signs and symptoms that are often misdiagnosed as Mastitis - especially in younger women - some of whom are breast-feeding when it occurs. Also, as you well know, the proper protocol is for the patients to receive chemotherapy first, and then surgery, but too many patients are being rushed into surgery immediately even in this day and age because physicians don't see the disease often enough.

The prognosis is much poorer which means that the patients need emotional support even more than most breast cancer patients, and they can receive that from their fellow ibc patients throughout the world.

A disproportionate number of the deaths from breast cancer are coming from the Inflammatory Breast Cancer patients. Everyone is still being told that a mammogram will detect their cancer early, and they will probably just need a lumpectomy, and they will have a 97% or better chance of long-term survival - unless they are diagnosed with IBC. Then everything is different. Many, if not most of them, have had clear mammograms shortly before being diagnosed. They are never allowed to have a lumpectomy. They have to have a modified radical mastectomy. They always have to have chemo - it's never an option. They always have to have heavy-duty radiation with bolus - it's never an option. They are lucky if 40% of them survive for even just 5 years. Almost none of them survive for 10 or more years. I could go on and on.

The message has to get out there. Even though this disease affects the breasts, it's otherwise almost an entirely different disease from what we normally refer to as breast cancer. These IBC patients are almost all going to have to deal with extensive mets before they finally die in a very painful and disfiguring and debilitating way.

[edit] Spam links

Hello, I've noticed that you're trying to post links to this page on various articles, I've edited down your link on Mission: Impossible III to an entry on external links (as opposed to a new header accompanied with CAPS TEXT. Please keep such edits at a minimum as we're trying to maintain POV on wikipedia, we also don't encourage spam links. I've also noticed that you have quite many good edits on your account, perhaps it's time to create an account?

Hi, I'm the real User 64.136.49.228. I've just been blocked from contributing. I never wrote anything about breast cancer nor any obscenities, nor any of the above topics. When I tried to contribute to an article, Wikipedia blocked me and said that Voterrightsparty was using my name 64.136.49.228. Please remove the block on me or change my User name/number. He's/She's probably using many other users names too. Thank you. --- 64.136.49.228, Jan. 23, 2006

I have been blocked a second time on March 11, 2006. I didn't write anything about Buick Electra.
