[edit] External links

The link you added to rasikas.org is not allowed due to Wikipedia policies on external links. That link points to a forum website and as forums contain unreliable information, they are not allowed to be added to Wikipedia articles. Thanks Parthi talk/contribs 21:10, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

If you read the guidelines I cited, forum websites are not acceptable as external links. You say it is one of the premier sites on Carnatic music. I disagree with you. I am a member of that forum and all I see is some self indulgent postings by its members. If you want forums to be included then you will need to raise this at the talk page of the policy page I cited above. Moreover the website owner Srkris is an acitive editor of that page and has been proven to have violated WP:SPAM by inserting this link on hundreds of pages in wikipedia. I will remove this link and go on removing it if anyone add it. Can I also request you to register as a wikpedia memner and sign your posts. Thanks Parthi talk/contribs 22:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
DMOZ directory links are allowed in EL. See WP:EL. Regarding your question on rasikas forum, WP policies specifically prohibit links to forum websites such as rasikas.org unless the article itself is about the forum. Thanks Parthi talk/contribs 00:20, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia project. It is not a directory of links. The emphasis must be on adding reliable information to the encyclopedia rather than spend a lot of time of adding external links such as Srkris seem to do most of the time. However as a favour to you I will mind these two links. Please add information to the article when you can. - Parthi talk/contribs 00:38, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Can I also request you to register and use your userid when you edit? Although there is no restriction on anonymous contributions, they tend to be discounted compared with contibutions from registered users. thanks Parthi talk/contribs 05:15, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
