Help! My IP address 62.255.83.8 has been blocked but I know nothing about the vandalism that has been attributed to me. The only thing I have edited (correctly I hope) was for 'LAWFORD'. I have tried to contact the asministrator who blocked me but it reverts to the 'You have been blocked' page when I try to email him. I apologise if I should not be on this page but I would very much appreciate any help. My email is jdavies@runbox.com. This is my home computer and I have full control of it. I dont no how this has happened but need to sort it out. Help! Jules
- Vandalism is not attributed to you specifically, whoever you are, but to your IP address, which is apparently shared between users from your ISP. In other words, someone, yesterday, on the same IP address vandalized Wikipedia, the IP was blocked to prevent further damage, the very same IP address was attributed to you by your ISP today, and you are the victim of collateral damage. Administrators at Wikipedia are well aware of the potential problem and usually only issue short blocks on IPs (48 hours for this block). The IP ban will automatically expire by tomorrow, and maybe your ISP will have automatically given you a different IP by then. You might be able to request a fixed IP from your ISP (one that never changes) to prevent that kind of problem from occuring here or elsewhere, or failing that, consider the option the next time you seek a new provider. Also, please consider registering an account on Wikipedia, to avoid collateral damage from anonymous IPs. Equendil Talk 00:05, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't know how this works or where this message will go. Please unblock me, as I only edit typos and grammatical errors. I have AOL, so I think I've been mistaken for someone else. Thanks. ~ User
- This is not an AOL IP address. If you are an AOL subscriber, you may want to contact them to find out why you are proxying through National Transcommunications. ;-) Thanks, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 18:53, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
