From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 5th Northwest Territories Legislative Council was the 12th assembly of the territorial government.

Major Changes would take place as a by-election would be held on September 19, 1966 in the ridings of Central Arctic Eastern Arctic and Keewatin to bring representation to the eastern arctic. This was the first time in Northwest Territories history that all parts of the territory had a representative in the legislative government. The changes were brought about as a result of the Carrothers Commission.
