57th Infantry Division (United Kingdom)

The 57th Infantry Division was a British Army creation during the Second World War. It was created from the 42nd Infantry Brigade for deception purposes. It was one of a number of units created for this purpose or having their names or numbers changed to keep the Axis forces confused.

During the First World War saw duty on the Western Front (World War I) as the 57th (2nd W.Lancs) Division from the end of 1917, but was not in action.
