5.8 x 42 mm DBP87

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 5.8 x 42 mm DBP87 rifle cartridge was developed in the late 1980s. The Chinese claim this round is superior to 5.56 x 45 mm NATO and the 5.45 x 39 mm M74 Soviet cartridged as used in AK-74.

This cartridge apparently has a muzzle velocity of 930 m/s (metres per second) from a standard barrel, with a bullet weighing 4.26 grams.

When the ammunition was ready, China began to develop a modern line of small arms based on same action and ammunition this group known as QBZ-95 ('Qing Buqiang Zu' = Light Rifles family, 1995), was displayed when China reassumed control of Hong Kong.
